What’s New with NDIS Funding?
The NDIS has changed how it gives out funding. Instead of getting your full plan budget upfront, money will now be released every 3 months. So you don’t miss out on the support you need it will be beneficial to keep a closer eye on your budget and spending.
Key Changes:
1. Funding Every 3 Months
- You’ll now receive your funds in smaller amounts every 3 months.
- If you don’t use your funds by the end of the 3 months, they should roll over.
- If you have spent more in the 3 months then the funding will not be available and can not be brought forward.
2. Less Flexibility
- You’ll need NDIS approval to move money between budget categories.
- You might not be able to use your funds for unexpected needs as easily.
3. Closer Monitoring
- To ensure that this does not impact your supports it is advisable to check your spending more often.
What You Can Do
- Plan ahead understand the supports you will need for each quarter.
- Check your NDIS portal or plan manager statements often to track spending.
- Ask for help early if your situation changes—don’t wait!
