At Alifa, we love sharing the things we’re proud of. And right now, Our Say is right at the top of that list.
When we launched Our Say, our Participant Advisory Group, the idea was simple — create a space where the people we support could have a real say in how we do things. Share ideas, plan events, give honest feedback, and help shape the way Alifa works. A few meetings in, and we can honestly say it’s exceeded everything we hoped for.
A big part of that is Greg.

Say hello to Greg
Greg has been with Alifa for three years now, and we’re so proud to share that he’s stepped into the Chair role for Our Say. If you know Greg, you’ll know he’s exactly the right person for it.
He’s had a fascinating life as a qualified boilermaker and welder and has called a few places home before landing in Safety Bay, which he loves. He’ll also never say no to a good Chinese meal, he thanks his Cantonese Grandmother for this. Greg lives by the quote “Do to others as you would have them do to you” and honestly, it shows.
Why we take this seriously
At Alifa, we talk a lot about person-centred support but that only means something if we’re actually listening. Our Say is how we put that into practice. It’s a space where participants can raise ideas, flag what’s working (and what isn’t), help plan activities and have a real influence on the direction we’re heading.
The conversations that have come out of these meetings have been genuinely great. Creative ideas, honest feedback, and a real sense of people feeling comfortable enough to speak up. That’s what we were hoping for, and it’s what Greg helps make happen.
Having a participant lead the group was always the vision. Because who better to guide these conversations than someone who lives the experience every day?
What’s next
With Greg leading the way, we’re looking forward to seeing Our Say keep growing. If you’re an Alifa participant and you’d like to get involved, even just to come along to a meeting and see what it’s all about, we’d love to have you.
This is your group. Your voice matters here, and we mean that.
Watch this space — we have a feeling Our Say is just getting started 🎉
