Recently Alifa was honoured to host visitors from Singapore and welcomed Noel, Melissa, Chin and additional team representatives from SG Enable, Dr Lim Hong Huay and Edwin from CaringSG, and Peggy and Charles from SkillsFuture Singapore. The meeting was a wonderful opportunity to share ideas, exchange insights, and explore how different communities are working towards inclusion and empowerment.
At Alifa, our focus is on providing individualised homes and supports, ensuring that each person we work with is supported to live their best life. Our guests shared the inspiring work happening in Singapore:
- SG Enable’s are the focal agency for disability in Singapore with a vision to enable lives and shape a more inclusive Singapore. They achieve this through partnerships that deliver employment, training programs, development of the Enabling Village, Tech assistance, Grants, Goal developments and a range of pioneering initiatives that promote accessibility and inclusion.
- Caring SG is a charity dedicated to ensuring that caregivers are well and empowered – an essential focus that recognises the importance of supporting those who care for others.
- SkillsFuture Singapore a government agency celebrating a decaded providing Singaporeans with the opportunity to develop their fullest potential throughout life, regardless of their starting points.
Our discussions were invaluable. While there are clear differences in how Perth and Singapore operate, it was fascinating to discover that we face many similar challenges – and that we share the same commitment to creating communities where everyone belongs.
We are grateful for the opportunity to connect, learn, and collaborate with such passionate organisations, and we look forward to strengthening these relationships in the future.
